The island of Bimini is located 45 miles from Miami, physically close but spiritually a whole world away. It has been called a "glorified sandbar", with two dirt roads known appropriately as the King and Queen's Highways, no cruise ships, tour boats, or shopping malls. It is here where one can truly escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax in all the beauty that Bimini has to offer. Bimini lies on the border between the Gulf Stream and the Great Bahama Bank, which allows some of the most crystal clear waters in the Western hemisphere. Combined with white sandy beaches and lush tropical vegetation, the landscape appears to be snapped from a postcard.
Bimini Sands Resort is a full service resort featuring one and two bedroom luxury condominiums. All condos either face the ocean or the marina and are just steps away from the beach. The one bedroom condos feature a modern, yet comfortable, bedroom and living room, fully equipped kitchen and first floor patio or second floor balcony. The two bedroom condos are 2 stories and tastefully decorated with a living room, two bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Guests are able to choose from 4 different restaurants onsite, Bimini Twist, Island Sushi, Mackey's Sand Bar, or The Petite Conch. For an assortment of upscale dining featuring fresh local produce, guests should try Bimini Twist - which is home to the finest cuisine on Bimini. Bimini Sands Resort is adding to their eco-adventures activities with the grand opening of Neal Watson's Bimini Scuba Center as of January 2013. The operation is directed by world-renowned diver Neal Watson, and he is quoted as saying "Bimini is a very unique dive destination. It's known for big sea animals, like sharks and wild dolphin, and also for it's incredible visibility. You could travel around the world and find no better dive site that you can find just a 20-minute plane ride or a two-hour boat ride from South Florida". The new dive center will feature a 40-foot custom dive boat accommodation 30 divers, all new Oceanic dive equipment rentals, a commercial compressor for tank refills, and the only Nitrox fill station in the Bimini Islands.
A unique feature of Bimini, and a true must-do for any diver, is the Shark Encounter Guided Tours. The experienced guides have years of experience with Bimini's sharks and are here to help you separate shark fact from shark fiction - such as what an important role sharks play in the health of the ocean's ecosystems. Bimini is also home to wild dolphins, and there are a number of operations offering a chance to see the beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. For those not quite ready to explore beneath the surface, guided snorkeling excursions allow guests to still see Bimini's beautiful coral reefs, legendary wrecks, and turquoise waters! The Snorkeling excursions can accommodate everyone from couples, to large groups, and every experience level in between.
