Otro mundo aparte - a world apart.

Barefoot caye Roatan DockThe pace is unhurried. The beaches white. The water azure blue. Barefoot Cay creates a feeling of calm and closeness with nature to a level few have experienced. Stay at Barefoot Cay and you will feel 'a world apart'. Your hosts have assured that the accommodations have all the amenities you'd expect from a luxury resort. A romantic getaway. A private retreat. Totally secure and comfortable. Drinkable tap water. A clean, airy design that caters to those who appreciate a good book and hours of uninterrupted quiet. Or, enjoy the endless activities... beachcombing, salt or freshwater swimming, snorkeling, diving, fishing, kayaking, or motorized boat touring. Barefoot Cay truly is an oasis for those who love the tropics.

Diving and the treasures to be found below the surface of the clear blue Caribbean Sea have been Roatan's main attraction for a long time. Caves and crevices, thousand-foot walls, wrecks, an airplane, abundant sea life, dolphins, sharks, whale sharks and the largest number of sponges in the Caribbean, makes Roatan and the Bay Islands one of the most desirable diving destinations in the world.

Barefoot Divers is located at Barefoot Cay and offers guests good accessibility to Roatan's premiere dive and snorkel sites. Barefoot Divers offers a full range of diving and training experiences and will take guests for dive trips to any of the superb dive sites surrounding Roatan or those bordering the other Bay Islands, including adventure dive trips on a 58-foot Hatteras long range cruising yacht. Dive gear can be rented and all levels of instruction are available from Discover Scuba to Dive Master. Open Water Diver Certification can be completed in less than a week and all advanced PADI courses and dives are available.

Deep water swimming and snorkeling is right in Barefoot Cay's “front yard”. The 260' dock leads to a 30' octagonal thatched palapa that has hammocks, Adirondack chairs, snorkel equipment and a landing for kayaks. The sea off the palapa is approximately 13 feet deep and nearby there are two sunken boats that are becoming habitat for the many varieties of fish that surround Barefoot Cay. The reef in this protected area inside the breaking waves has an incredible amount of sea-life.

The activities at Barefoot Cay are endless. You may have a difficult time deciding if you want to go diving or snorkeling, or take the tour on the glass bottom boat, go fishing, explore the Carambola Gardens, interact with the animals at Gumbalimba Park, the Iguana Farm, and don't miss the Dolphin Encounter.  And that is just a few of the fun things to do on Barefoot Cay. Following a day of diving or sightseeing you may want to relax with a massage in the Fitness and Spa Center. Tell us what you want to do and we will make all the arrangements for you.

Barefoot Cay BungalowACCOMMODATIONS

Barefoot Cay has four accommodations that are right on the beach. Two are bungalows that have one bedroom each, and two are villas that have two bedrooms each.  All the bedrooms are spacious with desk, dresser, and window seat, and all feature the ultra-comfortable Heavenly Beds.  The bathrooms are well designed with large Balinese partially open-air showers.  Each bungalow has a well-equipped kitchen with an eating area and a covered deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea. You'll walk out of the bungalows to the covered porch, then right onto the white sand beach. The two-bedroom villas also have a spacious living room that opens onto the large covered deck with wide steps to the beach. The tropical accommodations are designed to make use of the breezes, views, and proximity to the sea.

The bungalows and villas have ceiling fans and are also air conditioned for those days when the trade winds are lazy. The kitchens include an eating bar, full-size refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave oven, stove top, toaster oven, coffee grinder/maker and blender, as well as quality cookware, utensils, and serving ware.
